About the Pom's
Our Jr Mavericks Pom Squad,
although they also cheer at all the football games alongside the
Peps, compete in the State Cheerleading Competition!
Not all of the Pom's have cheerleading or dance
experience....most of them learn it throughout the season. Pom's
have a slightly more involved practice schedule and are held to
higher expectations.

There are no tryouts to be part of the Pom's but
cheerleaders skills are evaluated to determine which competing
squad they will be placed on.
Being part of the Pom's requires more
commitment on the part of the cheerleader as well as the parent!
Being part of our cheer squads is a fun experience and
the girls have a great time! And YES...we have some of the
sharpest looking cheerleaders around!

****Both squads will have regular practices together and will cheer at games
together. Pom's will have some separate additional practices for competition
preparation.
**Cheerleaders ages 8 and up must
compete as part of the Pom's.
***Cheerleaders ages 5 thru 7 have the
option to compete or not compete.
***All Pep's and Pom's are required to
attend a 5 straight day week of mandatory conditioning. This will be
the first week of practice and is required by the league.
Conditioning will get their bodies prepared for the rigors of the
sport, teach and increase flexibility, develop stamina, teach basic
cheer motions and foster teamwork amongst the squads.

ALL squads will practice every day
for the first 2 full weeks of practices then it will convert to
this regular practice schedule.
Practice schedule is subject to
change based on weather, school schedule, holidays or any other
unforeseen circumstance. |
When does
it start and how long does the fun last?
Season begins with
practices starting August 1, games beginning in early September,
State Cheer Competition on Nov. 1st, football playoffs in November
(football team must qualify), and the football State
Championship Games at the Alamodome
(football team must qualify)!
If our footballl teams
qualify, ALL Jr. Maverick cheerleaders are required to cheer
at any playoff games being played by our teams as well as the State
Championships!
We also require that the
Pep's come to the State Cheer Competition and support the Pom's as
they compete for another state title!

Deposit will GUARANTEE a roster spot. Deposit will be appplied to
Enrollment Fee. All fees must be paid by fitting day. If you are
trying to register after the fitting day, please email us and we
will see how we can accommodate adding your child to the roster!
"but it's so
expensive!!" .... don't worry!
Due to the fact that
Pom's fees are higher, the Jr Mavs will work with you to
help with pre-season payment arrangements so that it is easier for the parents
and doesn't prevent a cheerleader from being able to
participate.
We do not
charge extra "fees" for payment arrangements and
remember, unlike most cheer programs...there are NO MONTHLY TUITIONS
...period!
Payment arrangements are only
available for Pom's fees.

All cheerleaders must be certified. This requires an
original birth certificate,military ID, passport, or state issued ID
card.

Cheerleaders keep all their items except the pom
poms.

fees are NOT REFUNDABLE after the uniform fitting day!

those registering AFTER the uniform fitting may not receive their
uniform at the same time as those that registered prior to/on
fitting day.
